What is Restylane, and how does it work?

The main ingredient is a synthetic form of hyaluronic acid (HA), a clinically proven and natural substance produced by your body that especially nourishes your connective tissue. What is the difference between HA and collagen stimulating fillers?
The family of dermal fills do share a common goal, but each has their own advantages and disadvantages. Collagen stimulating fillers work to improve the elasticity and firmness of your skin, improving the underlying structure. On the other hand, a hyaluronic acid filler contains a synthetic compound that mimics one naturally occuring in the body. This carbohydrate compound is a type of sugar that can bind to large amount of water, hydrating your skin from within.
Are you a candidate for Restylane?
You must be at least 21 years of age. Beyond that, almost anyone is eligible for HA-based treatments.
Exceptions are people who are:
- Allergic to bacterial protein
- Immunocompromised
- Taking blood thinners
- Pregnant or breastfeeding

In preparation for your treatment, for the two weeks preceding your hyaluronic acid filler injections, you will need to stop taking any medications or supplements listed in our pre-treatment instruction guide.

Your Procedure
Injections are given in an office or treatment room setting.
Our expertly-trained staff will clean your targeted treatment areas with antiseptic and apply a topical lidocaine cream before using an ultrafine needle or cannula to precisely place the proper dosage of hyaluronic acid filler underneath your skin.
The entire procedure typically takes between 30 and 60 minutes.
Recovery, Aftercare, and Maintenance
Healing time varies from person to person, depending on the number, volume, and locations of your injections. However, any post-injection redness, swelling, or bruising should fully resolve in 48 hours or less.
Research indicates that taking arnica, an over-the-counter supplement widely available at drug stores or health food stores, can lessen bruising and swelling.
To enhance and elongate results, add 50+ SPF to your daily skincare regimen.
Results
You’ll see an immediate difference since the filler material adds volume as soon as it’s injected. Full results are typically seen within a week once any swelling has subsided.
Hyaluronic acid injectables are not a permanent solution, but your results should last several months. After that, you will need another round of injections to maintain and extend your new look.
